The Power of Prayer

The day was long, the burden I had borne
Seemed heavier than I could longer bear,
And then it lifted-but I did not know
Some one had knelt in prayer.
Had taken me to God that very hour,
And asked the easing of the load, and He,
In infinite compassion, had stooped down
And taken it from me.
We cannot tell how often as we pray
For some bewildered one, hurt and distressed,
The answers comes, but many times those hearts
Find sudden peace and rest.
Some one had prayed, and Faith, a reaching hand,
Took hold of God, and brought Him down that day!
So many, many hearts have need of prayer:
Oh, let us pray

SHAKE IT OFF

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.
The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer
tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided the animal was old and the well
needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth
it to retrieve the donkey.

So he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.
They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into
the well. At first, the donkey realized what
was happening and cried horribly.

Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked
down the well and was astonished at what he saw.

With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the
donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it
off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors
continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal,
he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped
up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

Moral: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds
of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to
shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles
is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest
wells just by not stopping, never giving up!
Shake it off and take a step up!

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Our Judgment

In all things look to the end and how will you stand before
the strict judge, from Whom there is nothing hid,
Who takes no bribes, receives no excuses,
but will judge that which is just.
O miserable sinner, O foolish sinner,
what will you answer to God, Who knows all your evil deeds.
You who are sometimes afraid of an angry man?
Why don't you provide yourself against the day of judgment?
When no man can be excused or defended by another,
but each one will have enough to answer of himself?

Stay with me Lord
(Mediation after Communion)

Stay with me Lord, for without your presence I forget you;
You know how easily I abandon you.

Stay with me Lord, for without your strength I fail;
you know how weak I am.

Stay with me Lord, for without you my fervor fails;
you are my life.

Stay with me Lord, for without you I am in darkness;
you are my light.

Stay with me Lord, and show me your will.

Stay with me Lord, and let me hear your voice.

Stay with me Lord, that I may follow you.

Stay with me Lord, That I may love you more.

Stay with me Lord, that I may stay with you.

If you want me to be faithful, stay with me Lord.

Meditation by Blessed Padre Pio

The Memorare

Remember, O Most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who
to your protection, implored your help
or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto you,
O Virgin of virgins,
my Mother;
to you I come
before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Peace of Mind

O, Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You,
hoping for all things from Your goodness.
You make a root flourish beneath the soil
and You make fruitful the darkness in which
I find myself today.

I adore You in all Your purposes even without
knowing them;
Your will be done, not mine
May I be patient!
It is so difficult to realize that these trials,
heartbreaking as they are, can turned into blessings.

Lord, give me peace of mind,
peace of heart, and peace of soul,
as I offer You my thoughts, my words,
and my actions, and yes,
Lord, my sufferings.
May they all be for Your greater glory.
Amen
