If Jesus came to your house
to spend a day or two
If He came unexpected
I wonder what you would do.

Would you have to change your clothes
before you let him in?
Or hide the magazines,
and put Bibles where they had been?

Would you hide your worldly music,
and put some song books out.
Could you just let Jesus in
or would you rush about?

Would you wish you hadn't
uttered that last loud hasty word,
and hope "He" hadn't heard.

I wonder, would you go on doing
the things you usually do,
and would you go on saying
the things you usually say?

Would life continue as it does from day to day?
Would you take Jesus with you
everywhere you go?

Or would you change your
plans for just a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him
meet your very closest friends,

Or would you wish they'd stay
away until his visit ends.
Oh! I know you'd serve your finest
meal to such an honored guest.

And I know that your table
would look it's very best.
Would you find it easy to say a
meal time prayer?

Or would you hang your head in
shame and wish he wasn't there?
Would you be glad to have him
stay forever on and on?

Or would you sigh with great
relief when at last he'd gone?

the things that you would do
If Jesus came to Your house
