Encouragement

My Cross was heavy, My love is great;
So, dear child, be not afraid if My holy Cross
marks the road you go;
My footprints are on that road, you know
The Thorn-Crown, the rod, the gall and the spear,
I suffered them all, for I loved you dear.
I want you to go on day by day,
your hand in mine along the way.
In sorrow, My love will ease your pain,
remember to trust:'tis not in vain,
for love will follow you, guide you, and see
that you safely reach eternity.

Saint Polycarp Prayers

Saint Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna and a
disciple of the apostles,
was burned at the stake about the year 155.
His feast day is February 23.
This is the prayer he prayed before he died,
as he waited for the fire to be lighted, he prayed

Lord, almighty God, Father of your beloved
and blessed Son Jesus Christ,
through whom we have come to the knowledge of yourself,
God of angels,of powers, of all creation,
of all the race of saints who live in your sight,
I bless you for judging me worthy of this day,
this hour, so that in the company of the martyrs
I may share the cup of Christ, your annointed one,
and so rise again to eternal life in soul and body,
immortal through the power of the Holy Spirit.

May I be received among the martyrs in your presence
today as a rich and pleasing sacrifice. God of truth,
stranger to falsehood, you have prepared this
and revealed it to me and now you have fulfilled
your promise. I praise you for all things,
bless you, I glorify you through the eternal priest of heaven,
Jesus Christ, your beloved Son. Through him be glory to you,
together with him and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

The Armour of God

"Finally, grow strong in the Lord,
with the strength of His Power.
Put on the full armour of God so as
to be able to resisit the devil's
tacitcs. For it is not against human
enemies that we have to struggle,
fur against the princilalities
and the ruling forces who are masters
of the darkness in this world,
the spirits of evil in the heavens.
That is why you must take up all God's armour,
or you will not be
able to put up any resistance on the evil day,
or stand your ground
even though you exert yourselves to the full."

I put on the full armour of God,
the helmet of salvation,
the breastplate of righteousness,
the shield of faith
to fend off the fiery darts of the evil one.
The belt of truth around my waist,
shoes for the preparation of the gospel of peace
and I take up the Sword of the Spirit,
the Word of God and proclaim that I am the
redeemed of the world and by Your Stripes,
I am healed. Amen.

"In all your prayer and entreaty
keep praying in the Spirit
on every possible occasion."
Ephesians 6:10-18

My Prayer

My Prayer is this: to want to do Thy will,
Even to the end that Thou should'st scourge and kill
I am too weak to pray, "Thy will be done,"
Lest Thou should'st heed my word and make me shun
The joys of life, and walk in quest of pain,
And mayhap, Lord, Thou'dst ask me to be slain.
I am afraid to ask, lest Thou should'st give
The thing I ask, when I so want to live,
A coward, I, my prayer this weakly one-
For grace to want to pray, "Thy will be done.!"

Prayer for the Home

Mother of Perpetual Help we choose you as Queen of our homes.
We ask you to bless all our families with your tender
motherly love. May the Sacrament of Marriage bind
husbands and wives so closely together
that they will always be faithful to each other
and love one another as Christ loves His Church.

We ask you to bless all parents. May they love and cherish
the children whom God has entrusted to them. May they always
give the the example of a truly Christian life. Help them
to bring up their children in the love and fear of God.
Bless all children that they may love, honor and obey
their father and mothers. To your loveing care we especially
entrust the youth of today

Give us all a sense of responsibility
that we may do our part in
making our home a haven of peace
like your own home at Nazareth.
We take you as our model.
Help us to grow daily in genuine love of God
and neighbor so that justice
and peace may happily reign in
the entire family of mankind. Amen

Prayer of Elisabeth of France

I know not, O God! What may happen to me today.
But I do know that nothing will happen me that has
not been forseen, determinded and ordered from all eternity.
This is sufficient for me, O God!
I adore Thine eternal and impenetrable designs;
I submit to them heartily and through love for Thee,
I wish all, I accept all, I sacrifice all to Thee and
I unite this sacrifice to that of Jesus Christ, my Divine Savior.
In His Name and through His infinite merits,
I ask Thee for patience in my troubles and perfect
submission to all Thou willest and permittest.

May God's most just, most holy and most adorable will be
accomplished in all things; may it be for ever praised and glorified!
